Meet Summer Serrano — Founder & Master Esthetician at Sassy Face KC
As the founder and Master Esthetician behind Sassy Face KC in Leawood, KS, Summer Serrano embodies the balance between science, soul, and everyday life. A single mother to a spirited kindergartener and lifelong animal lover, she brings the same compassion she practices at home into every treatment she performs.
Her ongoing education in corneotherapy, fascia work, and holistic women’s wellness — including skin support through perimenopause and menopause — keeps her approach modern, intuitive, and deeply empathetic. Summer understands firsthand the shifts that happen as women evolve, and she designs her services to meet those needs with grace and results.
Outside the studio, you’ll find her surrounded by music, sunlight, and her son’s curious laughter. Whether she’s tending to her garden or rediscovering the joy in life’s smallest details, Summer remains rooted in gratitude and presence — values that define both her practice and her brand.

After years in the beauty industry, I craved something deeper than quick fixes and surface-level results. That search led me to corneotherapy—a science devoted to protecting and restoring the skin barrier for long-term health.
My work expanded through Traditional Chinese Medicine esthetics and advanced fascia and buccal massage under Helena Pahava. These studies affirmed what I always knew: every wrinkle, line, and flush of color tells a story about posture, emotion, and inner balance.
Today, my focus is simple—visible, lasting transformation through touch alone. No needles. No shortcuts. Just the body’s natural intelligence, restored. Skincare isn’t just about the skin; it’s about caring for the woman within it.

My Story
If anyone understands the struggle for better skin, it’s Sassy Face founder Summer Serrano. While beginning her 20s with a face covered with embarrassing breakouts, Summer set out to find answers, a path that led her to fall in love with esthetics in 2003.
Her career began at Beauty Brands, where she worked for over a decade while patiently tending to her well-established guest list & crafting her plan to launch Sassy Face when the time was right. In 2015, Summer stepped out on faith and opened Sassy Face just a block away, inside Sola Salon.
Seven beautiful & busy years later and as the new mom to a sweet baby boy at the beginning of the worldwide pandemic, Summer gained an all-new understanding and appreciation for the changes women undergo. Time constraints, simplification & stress reduction, were at the forefront of her guest’s needs, not to mention her own.
Sassy Face’s philosophy fully embraces celebrating the positives & every wrinkle. It is far too easy to focus on what we want to eliminate and often challenging to see what we appreciate. Sassy Face has found that by celebrating the positives, the “imperfections” can often become minimized throughout the experience. Emotions are deeply rooted in how our skin behaves, and a change in perspective is the first step in healing the skin and bringing it back to optimal health and vibrance. You can expect to leave learning and loving something new about yourself while having a cozy retreat that you have access to when you are ready to be a part of the Sassy Face family. What's with the name
“Thanks to my beautiful grandmother and my sassy little 2 year old mouth, the nickname "Sassy Face" was brought to life. Little did I know that decades later, I would fall in love with esthetics & have the name already in place for my business. Perfect isn't it?”
