The Night I Forgot My Own Advice
A little reminder I needed myself...
Can I be honest with you for a minute?
The last few weeks have been... a lot.
Like many of you, I've been carrying more stress than I realized.
Stress has a funny way of asking for payment.
Mine collected through my body.
My lower back flared up again.
I'd wake up sore and stiff, feeling like I'd just competed in a lifting competition instead of spending eight hours in bed.
Around three in the morning, I'd jolt awake.
Hot.
Sweaty.
Throwing the blankets off...
Only to pull them right back on a few minutes later because now I was freezing.
One night it finally hit me.
I had completely forgotten to practice the very thing I ask almost every guest to do before we begin their facial.
"Take a slow, deep breath."
There's a reason I start so many treatments this way.
Before we can relax the muscles...
Before we can calm inflammation...
Before we can care for the skin...
We have to let the nervous system know it's safe.
So instead of reaching for my phone...
I just breathed.
Slowly.
I let my belly rise.
I completely emptied my lungs.
I wasn't timing it.
I simply stayed with my breath until I felt my shoulders soften.
My jaw unclench.
The tension I'd been carrying finally began to melt away.
That night...
I had the best sleep I'd had in weeks.
Sometimes we don't need another supplement.
Another gadget.
Another thing to buy.
Sometimes we simply need to remember the things we already know.
So if life has felt a little louder lately...
Consider this your reminder.
Take three minutes.
Put your phone down.
